I couldn’t sleep last night, so once again, I’m watching documentaries on Netflix. I stumbled onto “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead” and was fascinated by it. This guy went on a juice fast for 60 days. Wow. It was extraordinary.
No, I’m not going to do that. But it really got me thinking that raw juice could be a great way to get more fruits and veggies in my world. I’ve very good at liquid supplements, I can stick with Slim Fast when I want to, but I know that’s not crazy healthy. But a raw juice replacing a meal? Well, that just makes sense to me!
Plus I hit bottom last week with my weight/health. I took my kids to the 4th of July festival in Clarkston, but was just too tired to do anything fun with them. Even walking much for geocaching wears me out. I’ve known for a while something has to change, but hadn’t found the motivation yet. Not being able to do things with my kids was the last straw.
So today I bought a great juicer (cheap! Thank you Craigslist), bought a bunch of veggies and made my first raw juice. It’s apples, carrots & celery and actually, it’s pretty dang good. I’m pretty stoked!
My only concern is the cost - fresh fruits & veggies are expensive! I’m going to hit Rochester’s Farmer’s Market in the morning and see if that’s cheaper. Anyone want to come?
